Jointly funded by visionary donors to the Albert Einstein Society and the Frank J. Tornetta School of Anesthesia at Einstein Medical Center Montgomery, the SimMom program trains our obstetrics team how to handle emergencies that sometimes occur during labor.

Using a simulation mannequin and computer-generated scenarios, a myriad of medical situations can be created allowing the team to practice how to communicate and care for the patient in the safest method possible during delivery.

SimMom is proving to be the perfect training tool. By mastering treatment protocols and improving communication through real-to-life simulation exercises, the obstetrics team is more confident in its preparation to handle emergencies and improve patient safety.

Philanthropic support for Einstein is changing the patient care landscape. From unique patient-focused initiatives, to research and education, donors are making a real and tangible impact not only on the network, but also within the communities we serve.

For example, the Community Paramedicine program is reducing readmission rates at Einstein Medical Center Philadelphia for emergency healthcare services related to chronic health conditions. Funded through generous donor support, the program partners with local paramedics to visit patients after discharge from Einstein Philadelphia’s emergency department. By visiting patients in their homes, paramedics can identify any potential risks, review medications and discharge instructions, and encourage patients to stay on track with their recovery plans.

Within the first six months of the launching, Einstein Philadelphia’s readmissions for high-risk patients decreased from 18% to 5%. The program continues to be a cost-effective way to limit readmissions and support healthier patients, but most importantly it puts patients back in control of their health.

The new Shrier Lecture Series allows MRRI to better support its staff by creating and funding opportunities to expand both internal and external research education. Additionally, it provides resources to support engaging guest lecturers from other leading research organizations.

The new Shrier Family Topics in Rehabilitation Science Lecture Series is enabling our dedicated physicians, nurses, therapists, research scientists, and staff to enhance care through the practical application of translational research.

With a generous gift from long-time MossRehab and Einstein champions, Nancy and Marc Shrier, clinicians will be able to share more widely the innovative research and pioneering rehabilitation technologies they are developing at Moss Rehabilitation Research Institute (MRRI). Devoted to improving the lives of individuals with neurological disabilities through research, MRRI is impacting rehabilitation therapies around the globe.
