Several years ago, I created the RELEAS® hand splint for stroke patients. It’s a low-profile splint designed to help them perform everyday tasks.

With funding from the Albert Einstein Society, I was able to test and prove the splint’s effectiveness. After a short training program, the patients were asked to hold and let go of small objects. The idea was to perform two-handed tasks, such as ripping paper or washing hands.

The study showed that people with the splint could do these tasks more easily and quickly than without it. Thanks to the Einstein Society, more of today’s stroke patients are able to perform simple tasks like opening a jar or tying their shoelaces.
